DDarkness, cold, humidity …anyone tempted? No? Of course, not a lot of Berliners and tourists would be willing to pay for that, but never trust appearances: this could be the experience of a lifetime!

The “Berliner Unterwelten eV” (the society for the exploration of the subterranean Berlin) organizes underground guided tours of the city since 1987; you’d be amazed by the architectural and historical treasures that are hidden just under your feet.

You can choose between several tours to discover the huge underground network of the city; for instance you can explore tunnels dug up during the Cold War by the East Berliners in search of a better life: they were built between 1961 and 1985 and allowed 300 people to leave East Berlin, while many others were caught by the political police of the Stasi and were coldly executed.
